I haven't gotten my period yet! GIRL QUESTION?

Please dont make fun of me. I am 12 and I haven't gotten my period yet. Does this mean i am INTERED? my mom and grandma both got late periods...in like eight grade. so i guess its genetic. can that be why? plz answer all parts of this ques thnx :( p.s. im worried
