Do I have to soak my sharpening stone before using it?

I hope you don't ruin your razor. There are special stones for those but are extremely expensive. I have a set of three stones for a barbers razor and they are very old. They were my great grandfathers and back then I'm sure cost lots of money. Mine are Belgium stones. If yours look yellow they are oil stones. If not, water stones. They need to be soaked for at least two hours in warm water before using them.Don't use them dry as that will wear away your stone fast! Look on-line at Norton Stones and you will find lots of use full information on stones and all the different kinds made.
