I am going to court tomorrow and need help!!!!?

I asked a similar question to this but didn't get any real good answers. I am being sued for a credit card account that is from 5 or 6 years ago. I have not spoke or made payments since then. However, one day I was served papers out of the blue. I am being sued by Midland Funding LLC. My understanding of the law is that the SOL in NC is 3 or 4 years. The account was also $250 and I made payments, however, I was in college at the time and lost track of this bill and now all of a sudden, they want over $1600. I filed an answer stating that the SOL was up and that I had no idea who this attorney was because I have never spoken with anyone from this company. What do I need to have with me going to court? What questions do I need to ask? Also, what do they have to have to prove the debt valid? I am very worried about this because I am now a father of two and have more important things to worry about than a stupid debt from when I was young and careless. Thanks for the help!!
