Should the process of judicial appointment in Australia be altered to involve community consultation?

NO!!!! Public opinion should not be part of the process for electing anyone other than politicians. They should be appointed based on their skills by people that know whats required (their peers) and not on who their wife is, which public figure they support, how much they have paid off (dontated) to the local church.
